Welcome to Bad Society

The intent of this blog, despite the title, is not to add material to the doom-scrollers out there but to provide a small space where people can find interesting, relevant, and perhaps even uplifting information about our current and future society. That is not to say that this blog won’t address the ills of society because it certainly will. But hopefully it will present those with a heavy dose of critical thinking, pragmatism, and perhaps with advice on how to deal with them.

One of the effects of authoritarian governments and populist societies is the feeling of impotence among those who oppose such societies. The urge to run away and ignore the changes is strong and I too feel that urge. But the wise Heather Cox Richardson has convinced me that making a positive step, however small, is a better thing to do. So I have started this blog as my positive step, both for the few of you who may stumble upon it, and for myself to feel that I am, at the very least, doing something positive.

Initially I hope to include summaries of good and bad news items, links to pertinent articles and information from reliable sources, stories of hope, and perhaps some inspiring words from wise people of the past.

This blog will try to only present rational and fact-based information as there is quite enough of wild rhetoric and misinformation out there already. That is not to say that some emotional content may be present – we are humans, after all – but rationality and critical thinking will be the basis for most of what is posted here.

This site itself welcomes all who have open minds and kindness in their heart. Discourtesy, hateful language, and intolerance for others who may be different from yourself will not be tolerated. Comments are welcome and can be anonymous but they are moderated to keep out the trolls and keep the conversations civil.

So thank you for visiting, I hope you find it useful and interesting. Please feel free to leave me feedback, comments, ideas, etc. at mailto:info@badsociety.blog .
